Beetles and Stars, and LIfe on Mars:

“God shows an inordinate fondness for Beetles and Stars - given their preponderance in the Universe.”  J.B.S Haldane

Any sign of pre-existing life on Mars would validate the proposition of a second Genesis.  And if that is the case, it must then be supposed that life is abundant in all the Universe.  However, no signs have yet been found. We could be all alone.

There are some 200 billion stars in our Milky Way Galaxy.  The Sun is just an average one of those stars, around which our wondrous little planet Earth revolves.  There may be 400 billion galaxies in the whole Universe.  There may even be a multitude of universes.  But it is quite possible that our little Earth is totally unique. The only world in existence with the specific complexity of chemical, and physical characteristics to allow a diverse geology, and ultimately the sophisticated life forms we see around us to evolve.  How tragic that the most sophisticated of those life forms may be destroying the only planet in the Universe where any life can exist.
